Our campus minister’s story of personal resurrection

Prayer and purpose saved my life.

I was only sixteen when one of my best friends, a drug dealer, asked for my help with a dangerous drug deal. I knew it was a bad idea, but I felt too much pressure to refuse. While we survived that night, my friend was killed just a few years later during a similar deal. Getting high and putting myself in constant danger was my world, although I had no idea how I had ended up in it.

I clearly see now that I had no sense of direction, no sense of purpose, no vision for my life. And where there’s no vision, people perish (Proverbs 29:18).

I thank God for saving me from that world, for bringing people into my life to plant seeds – people who committed themselves to pray for me and help me realize God’s plan and purpose for my life. I thank God for raising me from the dead.

We each have a purpose. I believe my purpose is to help others experience their own resurrection.
