Foster Care Connection Volunteer Orientation/Training
October 13 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
An event every month that begins at 10:00am on day Second of the month, repeating indefinitely
In this session, a UMCH volunteer coordinator will discuss the different ways in which volunteers may be matched with foster families and move forward to support them in the Atlanta metro area. Please register at www.umchildrenshome.volunteerhub.com.
Is there an age limit to participate in Care Connection?
Because we require background checks, all of our volunteers are required to be at least 18 years of age.
Is childcare provided?
We are unable to provide childcare for this orientation. The session is approximately two hours long and may involve paperwork afterward, so it is not recommended to bring small children with you to the orientation.
My spouse would like to volunteer as well. If I come to the orientation, does (s)he need to attend?
Paperwork for each individual who volunteers is needed. If you feel as though you might be ready at the end of the session to commit and fill out background check applications, both individuals should attend.
What about parking?
There is plenty of free parking!
What should I bring to the training session?
Please bring a copy of your driver’s license and also a copy of your auto insurance card or some other proof of insurance that we can keep for our records. If you are interested in working 1:1 with foster children (I.e. babysitting or transportation) you will also need your addresses for the past 5 years.
