Kids Helping Kids

Right now in the state of Georgia there are over 13,000 children in the foster care system. Every single week The United Methodist Children’s Home (UMCH) turns away 30-40 children from being placed with our agency. The need has never been greater, and we need YOUR HELP! We are encouraged because of the love churches all across North Georgia show our children and families, and because we know that together, with God’s help, we can bring transformative, healing grace to a hurting world.

That’s why we’re offering two free, fun ways to connect children and youth to the wider mission of The United Methodist Church.  Kids Helping Kids offers two resources.  The first resource is a VBS Mission Kit.  It works with any VBS theme and gives you the tools to focus on the ministries of UMCH as the children learn about missions.  The second resource is a lesson for any gathering of youth or children.   Both resources give your children and youth a hands-on way to help other children from right here in North Georgia.

Kids Helping Kids will help you:

  • Teach your children about empathy and compassion
  • Help your children understand the needs of other children in the community
  • Raise support for The United Methodist Children’s Home through fun, easy to implement ideas
  • Create a new generation of Christian supporters for UM agencies and causes

Our Kids Helping Kids resources are flexible, work for any size church, and can be customized to fit your needs and resources.

The VBS Kit includes:

  • An implementation guide with suggested prayers and daily Mission Moments
  • A sample Power Point goal slide to display your progress toward your goal
  • An informational letter and email to send to parents prior to your VBS explaining the mission
  • Fundraising ideas and “how-to” implement them with no hassles
  • A template for a certificate of participation for each child who participates

The Children and Youth Lesson includes:
